The light is magical at all times during the day in the Alhambra and this subject caught my eye -there are many doorways and portals that make for fantastic subject matter
The Partal Gardens in the Alhambra
At the front of the courtyard are the remains of what once was the main room of the palace: a tower overlooking a portico in the open patio. The remains of the walls now form a terrace that provides one of loveliest views to be had in the Alhambra.

Painting in the afternoon in the Generalife. This was a magical day with perfect autumn weather as the days prior to this it had been raining. There was a freshness in the air and the light simply sparkled.
The fountains
The Generalife has numerous fountains, creating a wonderful atmosphere as you walk around the gardens. Listening to the sound of trickling water accompanied by the swifts and swallows overhead is of my most treasured memories

Autumn in the Generalife
In contrast to spring, the Autumn light in the Generalife is dramatic and is incredible to see first thing in the morning. This is one of our favourite times to paint here.
